Cozad Swimmers Shine At Season Opener
Excited to get the season started were the swimmers that took to the pool at the Cozad Invitational on Saturday at Muny Park. Lexington, Gothenburg, Elwood, Kearney and Elm Creek joined the host Haymakers in the first day of competition for the Plains Tsunami League.
The competitiors challenged for supremacy in their specific age groups that included long free, butterfly, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and individual medley along with the medley relay and the free relay. There were a free brave swimmers that conquered the long individual medley as well.
“With just two short weeks of practice, the Cozad Swim Team put together an impressive performance at Saturday's first meet of the season. From the new fledgling swimmers to the well-seasoned athletes, the kids competed with both strength and heart. Coach Karen Labrayere and I are very proud of them, expressed Swim Coach Anne Burkholder. “We are also proud of our community for coming out to volunteer at the meet and cheer for the swimmers.”
