Art Peters Earns 'Make Your Mark On Cozad' Accolades
Art Peters was the recipient of the fourth annual ‘Make Your Mark on Cozad’ Award presented at the Cozad Boy Scouts Court of Honor held in the Christ the King Catholic Parish Hall on Sunday, August 28th.
Library Foundation member and Library Board President Julie Linn presented Peters with a plaque
The ‘Make Your Mark in Cozad Award’ began in 2013 in conjunction with the Wilson Public Library’s celebration of International Dot Day. Themes of Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot: creativity, courage and collaboration inspired the observance of Dot Day in mid-September each year by teachers, libraries, and artists around the world.
Given as a way to spotlight community members who are avid supporters of the library, Cozad as a whole, and the arts specifically, the inaugural award was bestowed upon Mrs. Katherine Wilson in September 2013. Mrs. Ann Burkholder received the award in 2014 with the late Jan Patterson being the recipient in 2015.
As this year’s champion, Peters was selected due to his long-term commitment to the City of Cozad. He was the lead Paulsen Inc. supervisor when the Wilson Public Library was built in 1997.
According to former Wilson Public Library Director Mary Neben, “When we were building the Wilson Public Library, I called upon him many a time when I had a question or when something came up that needed to be addressed by Paulsen Inc. He was our ‘go-to person anytime the library board or I had a question.”
After retiring form Paulsen Inc. Peters served as the City Building Inspector.
Peters has touched countless lives for the better with his lifelong tenure in Boy Scouts.
He has continued to be a supporter of the library and its programs and is an avid reader and genealogist.
