Cozad Resident: Loyd Rhinehart (1927-2016)

  Loyd Laverne Rhinehart, 88, of St. Paul, Nebraska, died Sunday, June 12th, 2016, at the Veterans Affair Medical Center in Grand Island.  Mr. Rhinehart’s wishes were to be cremated.  Private family inurnment will be at a later date in the Cozad Cemetery.  Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
Loyd was born October 26th, 1927, at Elwood, Nebraska. He was the son of Lloyd and Elizabeth J. (Lockhart) Rhinehart.
  Survivors of the immediate family include his wife of 70 years, LaVonne P. Rhinehart of St. Paul, Nebraska; two daughters, Caryn J. Scott of Greenville, South Carolina and Patricia Bauer of Grand Island, Nebraska; one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn L. and Denise Rhinehart of Corpus Christi, Texas and one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Larry Johnson of Cozad, Nebraska. Others left to cherish his memory include his four grandchildren, Jenny Scott, Doug Scott, Sheldon Rhinehart and Ashley Holroyd and two great granddaughters.
  Loyd grew up in Cozad, Nebraska receiving his education at Cozad High School. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Cross on November 10th, 1945, at Cozad, Nebraska.  Loyd served his country in the U.S. Army from January 26th, 1946 to June 21st, 1947.  After his honorable discharge he returned to Cozad were he farmed and worked in the mills before accepting a position with Paulsen Building and Supply, were he retired as a bridge foreman.
  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling the country with LaVonne.
  Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Johnny L. Rhinehart, brother, Clare Rhinehart and a sister, Marilee Payton.
