Delmar L. Bissell, 85, of North Platte, Nebraska, died Tuesday, February 7th, 2012, at Premier Estates. He was born on October 30th, 1926, in Poole, Nebraska, to Harvey and Eva Mae (Waddington) Bissell.
Delmar grew up in the Ravenna, Nebraska, area. After finishing his schooling, he worked at the TB Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. He married Lorraine Cochran, and to this union, six children were born, Letha, Linda, Connie, Carolyn, Lois and Ron.
Lorraine preceded him in death in 1961. The family moved to Hastings where Delmar worked at the Ammunition Depot. He married Alice Dewey in Hastings, Nebraska and to this union three children were born, Pam, Kathy and Kenny. Delmar worked at the Lexington Alfalfa Dehydration plant and other Dehy plants for over 20 years. On April 3rd, 1988, Delmar married Violet Gage in Maxwell.
Delmar will be remembered as a man who knew and loved his Lord, who was a loving husband, father and grandfather and always gentle in his words and actions. He enjoyed his time with his family and liked to make family and friends laugh when he could. Delmar enjoyed camping and fishing, chasing his cows and spending time outdoors with his kids and dogs.
Survivors include his wife, Violet of North Platte; six children, Carolyn (Steve) Buss of Cozad, Nebraska, Lois (Rod) Underwood of Lexington, Nebraska, Ron (Shiela) Bissell of Bellevue, Nebraska, Lesia (Jim) Calvin of Gurley, Nebraska, Pam Graves of North Carolina and Kenny Bissell of Gothenburg, Nebraska; four step-children, Kenneth (Ruth) Gage of Maxwell, Nebraska, Shirley (Leo) Sylvan of Brady, Nebraska, Donna (Everett) Hunt of Hastings, Nebraska, Robert (Sonia) Gage of Ben Wheeler, Texas and Larry Secrest of Arizona; a sister, Gloria (Howard) Jensen of Cairo, Nebraska; sons-in-law, Bob Buss of Cozad and Grant Meyer of Cozad; numerous very loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; children, Letha Buss, Linda Meyer, Connie Bissell and Kathy Bissell; and sisters, Vera Thaden and Elsie Tabor.
Memorial Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 11th, 2012, at the Calvary Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Dennis Leitner officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Cheyenne Memorial Cemetery in Wyoming.
