Memorials Are Suggested: Robert Singletary (1940-2016)
Robert Singletary, 76, of Opelousas, Lousiana formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska. died Thursday, April 28th, 2016, in Lafayette, Lousiana.
He was born in 1940 to James and Ola Mae Singletary in Pinesville, Lousiana. In the early 1960s, he made his way to Nebraska with his stepfather, Ken Oliver, to work on power and steam plants. In 1965, he met and married Betty Smith. Four children were born to this union. The couple later divorced.
Robert became an over-the-road truck driver until he retired in 2006 and moved back to Louisiana where he married Carolyn Stelly in April 2006.
His family dearly misses him. Survivors include his daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Max Rodriguez of Grand Island, Raygene and Bart Koch of Cozad, and Sheri and Ron Singletary of Elm Creek ; brother, Dan and wife Lisa Singletary of Nashville, Tennessee; sister, Madge and husband Hubert Brown of Lovington, New Mexico.; his wife, Carolyn Singletary of Opelousas, Lousiana; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ola Mae, James and Kenneth; and a son, Robert Kenneth.
Memorial services will be later at New Life Church in Kearney with the Rev. Roger Wendt officiating.
