Powered by 48 qualifiers and over 160 individual medals being won, the Cozad Swim Team won the Plains Tsunami Team Championship recently at the Championships that were held in Lexington recently.
The Cozad contingency completed their undefeated season by combining to score 1,792 points to win the crown. Gothenburg was second overall with 1,362 points. Elwood was ninth with 625 points. Lexington and Eustis/Farnam were 11th (571) and 21st (244), respectively.
Cozad set a pair of records at the championships with the age 9-10 girls medley relay and the age 30 and over Women quartet completed the long and short relay events in record time.
Many area swimmers earned Individual High Point accolades. Champion high point swimmers were Sam Hergenrader, Cozad; Carly Jensen, Cozad; Carissa Jensen, Cozad; Aubrey O’Hare, Gothenburg; Keely Lecher, Gothenburg and Ryan O’Hare, Gothenburg.
Earning runner-up honors were: Taryn O’Hare, Gothenburg; Karyn Burkholder, Cozad; Megan Burkholder, Cozad and Gracie Stienike, Gothenburg.
Third place finishers in the High Point competition for 2014 was Ashley Burkholder, Cozad. Fourth place honorees were Jamie Graff, Gothenburg; Efren Aguirre, Lexington and Anne Burkholder, Cozad.
