Law enforcement agencies in 93 counties across Nebraska are participating in the “You Drink You Drive, You Lose’ crackdown from now through January 1st.
Last year, 10,767 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence.
A zero tolerance policy will prevail as officers patrol during the period.
Nebraska traffic fatalities for this year are on pace to be the second fewest killed since record keeping was started in 1937.
The crackdown will be emphasized particularly on Fridays and Saturdays in all areas because that’s when agencies have received funding for overtime enforcement.
It’s hard to have a happy holiday after being arrested for drunk driving. Plan ahead. If you will be drinking, do not drive. Designate a sober driver or arrange another safe way home.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Department and the Lexington Police Department would like to remind everyone to buckle up while driving and that if “You Drink and Drive, You Lose.”
