Memorials Are Suggested: Shibble Maloley, age 97 (1916-2014)

Shibble Maloley, 97, of rural Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, March 20th, 2014, at Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, Nebraska.

He was born October 8th, 1916, at Lexington, Nebraska, the first of twelve children born to George N. and Mary (Malooley) Maloley. He attended school at South #17 country school. Shibble was united in marriage to Virginia Mouzes on December 12th, 1943, in Lexington, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with three children; George, Mary Ann and Sara Lee; foster son, Bill Ristov and daughter adopted by love, Shirley Gleason Wells.

Born and raised in Lexington, he worked on the family farm until 1962, when a tractor accident forced him to change occupations and touch the lives of many folks. He owned and operated the Midway Chevron Gas Station for 13 years. He worked for Don Coad’s Skelly Station and later was a familiar face at Barmore Drug for 23 years and Reynolds-Love Funeral Home for over 45 years.

Shibble was a member of St. George Eastern Orthodox Church in Kearney and the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. He was a member of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, Mercury Club and Eagles Club, all for over 50 years. Shibble was a proud supporter of Nebraska football, Lexington youth and never knew a stranger and could visit with anyone.

Shibble was a kind, caring soul who put all others’ needs before his own. It was amazing that he continued to work until he got sick in 2010, yet held a positive attitude and loving concern for everyone else. We will all remember him sharing his candy, fruit, cookies and kindnesses with the entire community. “Give my love and regards to everyone”, he always said. God Bless You Shibble!
