Two Honored As Elks Students Of The Month

The Cozad Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Number 2250 has selected Tasia Borchardt of Gothenburg and Cozad’s Chandler Brock as the recipients of the Elks Teens of the Month. 
The pair of students have maintained superior academic portfolios at Gothenburg and Cozad High School throughout their high school campaigns. 
Tasia Borchardt is the daughter of Mark and Annette Borchardt. Borchardt currently has a 3.99 GPA and has been a mainstay on the Honor Roll throughout her career at Gothenburg High School. She has earned the Renaissance Swede Scholar award the past three years.  
Excelling in the classroom as well as in extracurricular activities while being a leader for many organizations has become the norm for Tasia Borchardt. Tasia has been involved in both Volleyball and Basketball throughout her high school years. She participated in basketball early on during her tenure at Gothenburg High School and has been a four-year member of the Lady Swedes Volleyball squad. 
Tasia has been in the Gothenburg High School Band for the past four years. Since her sophomore year, she has been involved in the Circle of Friends organization along with being a voice on the Gothenburg High School Student Council. 
This year, Borchardt has been involved in the Interact group. She was a member of the Gothenburg Speech team during her tenure at GHS. 
During the past two years, there have been many opportunities when Tasia has stepped forward  and volunteered during community service efforts. As a freshmen and sophomore, Borchardt was part of Ireland Mission trips. This past year, Tasia participated in the Chicago Mission Trip along with being an assisted living helper. 
“Tasia is a compassionate and hardworking individual who has done and will continue to do well,” expressed Gothenburg Mathematics teacher Sharise Scherer. “She is a very responsible and organized student.”

Chandler Brock is the son of Travis and Mindy Brock. Chandler maintains a 3.95 GPA at Cozad High School. He has been a mainstay on the honor roll throughout his tenure at Cozad High School.
Being very active in extracurricular activities has been Brock along with showcasing excellence in the classroom throughout his four years at Cozad High School. 
Chandler Brock has earned CCSA Awards in math along with being the Graduation Herald this past year. As a member of the FBLA for the past four years, Brock has showcased leadership skills in many of the organization’s events.  Chandler is currently the class president, the same role he filled this past year as well. As the president, that has made him a part of the CHS student council for the past two years also. 
Being involved in extracurricular activities, Chandler has been a four-year lettermen in Cross Country along with earning Academic All-State honors in Cross Country and Track. Brock has been a letterman in track the past two seasons and earned the Mr. Track award as a Junior. 
Chandler was inducted into the Cozad High School National Honor Society as a Junior and continues to exceed the requirements to be a member of the elite organization. 
“Chandler is sincere and friendly and always wears a smile,” stated CHS English Instructor Jann Kloepping. “He has used his abilities to succeed himself, but is also willing to help others. I admire his dedication to educational success.”
