Roger R. Blomquist, 74, of Cozad, Nebraska, died January 9th, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Roger was born November 30th, 1939 at Grand Island, Nebraska, to Walter and Lola (Brundage) Blomquist. He attended school in and around the Grand Island area. He also attended a tech school for one and a half years. In 1957, Roger joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in active duty for three years and in the reserves for three years.
Roger was employed by Paulsen, Inc. for a few years and as an apartment manager while living in Loveland, Colorado. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially westerns. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. Roger loved old cars and cooking and in the last few years he enjoyed his soda and "sweets".
Roger fought a courageous battle with cancer. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend and will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his wife Kay of 34 years; two sons, Keith and Darin Blomquist of California; three step-daughters, Billie (Tim) Land of Cozad, Bobbie (Moises) Samayoa of Lexington, Nebraska and Angel (David) Torres of Overton, Nebraska; step-son William (Christina) Kostman Jr. of Cozad; 22 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and niece Angie Parker and family of Yutan.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother Milton Blomquist of Grand Island; stepmother Erma Blomquist and three grandchildren, Taylor, Harley and Ezekial.
Services will be held Monday, January 13th, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad.
Burial with military honors will follow at Cozad Cemetery.
