John Andrew Loostrom, 98, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died April 3rd, 2013, in Gothenburg.
He was born January 21st, 1915, on the family farm in Custer County north of Gothenburg, son of Peter and Marie (Peterson) Loostrom.
He attended New Hope School and Gothenburg High School. He spent his lifetime farming and ranching north of Gothenburg in Custer County and in Lincoln County between Brady, Nebraska and Maxwell, Nebraska. He married Beulah Bedell at North Platte, Nebraska, on February 26th, 1939, to this union, three children were born: David, Peggy and Mark.
Surviving are wife, Beulah Loostrom of Gothenburg; two sons: David (Linda) Loostrom of Gothenburg; Mark (Shawn) Loostrom of Maxwell; daughter: Peggy (John) Pape of Grand Island, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Perry (Kristin) Loostrom, Gothenburg; Wendy Jensen, Grand Island; Merry (Mark) Danley, Lincoln, Nebraska; Dr. Jeff (Stephanie) Pape, Norfolk, Nebraska; Sherry (Ryan) Sanner, San Diego, California; John (Melodie) Loostrom, Maxwell; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: L. Johanna Bedell of North Platte and Carol May Brown of Lexington, Nebraska; brother-in-law Rod Carlson of Cozad, Nebraska; sister-in-law Rosemary Loostrom of Plymouth, Michigan; along with a host of friends and extended family as reflected by his recent 98th birthday party.
John was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Marie Loostrom; three brothers Robert, Bruce and Ivan Loostrom, sister Mary Ann Carlson and two great-grandchildren Lane Michael and Bobbi Jo Loostrom.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg on Friday, April 5th, 2013, from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m.
Graveside services will be held at Gothenburg Cemetery on Saturday, April 6th, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Litzenberger officiating.
