Cozad Resident: Constance Bratton (1949-2016)
Constance E. 'Coni' Bratton of Cozad passed away December 5th, 2016 at UNMC in Omaha at the age of 67. Coni was born October 21st, 1949 at Hillsboro, Kansas to Fred and Phyllis (Suffield) Allen. She graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1967. Coni married Larry Bratton on April 28th, 1967 in Manhattan, Kansas. The couple were blessed with 2 children, James and Michelle. The couple lived in Kansas, Illinois and the Omaha area before settling in Cozad in 1979.
Coni worked at a grocery store in Cozad before becoming the first director for the Cozad Grand Generation Center. She was instrumental with the development of the center, which started in the basement of the Cozad Christian Church. In November of 2000, Coni and Larry purchased a business in Cozad, which became B's Bottles and Videos. The couple sold the store in October 2016 when she retired.
Coni enjoyed traveling, especially to Mexico. Her kids and grandkids were her life. She loved to watch all of their activities and spend time with all of the family. Coni was a skilled seamstress and would make dresses for the girls. She was always prepared and made sure everyone was taken care of. Coni loved the holidays and made it a special time for her family. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-father, Harlan Jensen.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of Cozad; mother, Phyllis Jensen of Cozad; brother, Maurice Allen of Topeka, Kansas; son James (Tammy) Bratton of Douglas, Wyoming; daughter, Michelle (Jamie) Liewer of O'Neill; grandchildren, Jake (Amanda) Bratton of Casper, Wyoming, Bayley Bratton at University of Wyoming, Dawson Bratton of Douglas, Walker Liewer of Wayne State College, Wyatt and Wreece Liewer of O'Neill; a great grandchild on the way in February; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

A memorial service was held Friday, December 9th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Smith officiating. Cremation was chosen. Memorial book signing was Thursday at Berryman Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
