James Ourada, 55, of Overton, Nebraska, died Monday, February 11th, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, shortly after admittance.
James D. Ourada was born September 19th, 1957, in Kearney to Donald and Donevieve (Kaps) Ourada. He received his education in Elm Creek, Nebraska, graduating in 1975. Jim farmed after high school and later worked for Walnut Grove, Golden Harvest and CHS. On September 22nd, 1984, he was united in marriage to Renita (Kenning) Bray in Elm Creek. Jim was a charter member of the Pheasants Forever, as well as, a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the First Christian Church of Overton. He enjoyed hunting and lead several guided hunting trips for people all over the world.
He started his selling career working for Walnut Grove then Golden Harvest. He finally found his dream job working for Rusty Fertilizer. He earned Seed Adviser of the Year in 1999. He was active in the Corn Growers Association as he served Director of both Dawson County and the Nebraska Association. He traveled to Washington D. C. for meetings related to biotechnology issues. Jim also served the students of Lexington Public Schools as an in-school suspension supervisor. He was well respected and improved the life’s of many children. Helping people in need was always of importance to him. Jim was a 10-year member of the 4-H Program in Buffalo County. He enjoyed hunting and led several guided hunting trips for people from all over the world, especially through the International Falconeer’s Association.
Survivors include his wife, Renita of Overton; son, JD Ourada of Overton; daughters, Janelle Francis and husband, James of Lincoln, Nebraska, Selena Kiger and husband, Art of Overton, Chandra Bray and fiance, Justin Anderson of Pahrump, Nevada; grandchildren, Jorja and Jager Francis, Dusti and Cinch Kiger, and William Virchow; mother, Donnie Ourada of Elm Creek; sister, Kathy Gifford of Kearney; brother, Mike Ourada and wife, Marsha of Overton: sister-in-law, Gloria Ourada-Simonson and husband, George of Elm Creek; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, father; brother, Nick Ourada; brothers –in-law, Mike Gifford and Bryan Kenning and sister-in-law, Donna Kenning.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 15th, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elm Creek with the Rev. Jose Chavez celebrating.
Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Elm Creek.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
