Two Honored As Elks Students Of The Month

The Cozad Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Number 2250 has selected Gothenburg’s Jaci Teahon and Alynne Myer of Cozad as the recipients of the Elks Teens of the Month. 
The pair of students have maintained superior academic portfolios at Gothenburg and Cozad throughout their high school campaigns. 
Jaci is the daughter of Mike and Kelli Teahon. Teahon maintains a 4.0 GPA at Gothenburg High School and currently has the top GPA, ranked #1 of 73 in the GHS Senior class. 
Jaci Teahon has been a very busy student inside and outside the walls of Gothenburg High School in a great variety of activities and organizations. 
Jaci Teahon has been on the High A Honor Roll throughout her tenure at Gothenburg Schools and has earned Student of the Month honors as well as Student of the Year in Mathematics. She has earned Academic awards in English, Mathematics and Spanish as well. She was also honored for a perfect score on the the State Writing Exam. 
Already this year, Jaci has been recognized as a Super Swede Senior, an honor that is selected by faculty members. 
Teahon has been deeply involved in the success of the Gothenburg FFA program as a four-year member of the organization. Currently Jaci is the President after serving as the Vice President of the FFA this past year. She has qualified for state competiton in multiple events as well. 
She has been in the Sigma Phi Beta organization for the past couple of years. She is currently the Secretary of the Student Council and has held officer positions the past two school years for her class and Student Council. 
Looking to improve the City of Gothenburg as a whole, Jaci is also a student representative on the Community of Gothenburg Wellness Center committee. She has attended the SWC Leadership Summitt and National Leadership Seminar as a student representative for Gothenburg. She has been a four-year member of the Gothenburg FCA. 
Jaci Teahon is a four year member of the Lady Swedes Basketball team and has served as a team captain along with earning letterwinner status. She has been instrumental in the success of the Track and Field team along with the Cross Country squad. She has earned district medalist and All-Conference honors in Cross County as well as earning letterwinner accolades in both Track and Cross Country. She is a former member of the Gothenburg High School cheerleading squad. 
Jaci Teahon was spotlighted as an inductee of the Gothenburg High School National Honor Society as a result of her outstanding efforts inside the classroom, as well as in activities and organizations. 
“Jaci exemplifies the highest of ideals of an influential leader in concrete ways by turning her personal excellence into real, tangible impact on others,” explained Gothenburg High School English Instructor Jay Garrison. “She is the strongest initiator in a class of initiators, the gatekeeper of critical thinking and logic; and a strong advocate for the challenging nature of Analytical English.”
Alynne Myer is the daughter of John and Julia Myer. Alynne maintains a 4.14 GPA while being a very active student in a variety of activities at Cozad High School. Myer has been a mainstay on the All A’s Honor Roll throughout her campaign at Cozad Schools. 
Along with her standout effort and excellence in the classroom, Myer has showcased a creative side as well, being selected and honored with accolades for her art work not only in Cozad but also in the Southwest Conference. She was selected to the SWC Art Festival Honor Show as a Junior and is currently an Honors Art Student at Cozad High School. 
 Outside of the classroom, Myer has been a standout on the softball diamond for the highly touted Lady Haymaker Softball squad. She has earned Academic All-State honors the past three seasons and was recognized by the Lincoln Journal-Star as an Academic All-State selection this past year. Alynne is a four-year letter winner in Softball and has been a four-year starter at catcher for the Lady Haymakers. She has been a Summer group leader for the program the past two years and demonstrated elite leadership roles. 
She earned the Power Positive Award from Cozad High School weight room staff as a Sophomore. Alynne earned letterwinner status as a Sophomore on the basketball team. 
Myer has been a four year member of the Pep Club and FBLA program at Cozad High School. She earned letterwinner accolades in Pep Club the past two years and is well on her way to lettering three straight years. She is currently a Pep Squad-squad leader. As a standout member of FBLA, Alynne attended the State Leadership conference this past year along with earning Community Service Awards the past two years. As a Junior, Myer was honored as a recipient of the Business Achievement Awards Future Level Award. 
Stepping up to the plate, Alynne Myer is currently a member of the Cozad High School Student Council. 
As a result of Myer’s excellence displayed inside the classroom along with extracurricular activities, Alynne was inducted into the Cozad High School National Honor Society as a Junior and she continues to exceed the requirements of being in the elite organization. 
“Alynne Myer has demonstrated a high moral character, unquestionable work ethic as well as an adaptable ability to communicate with her peers and teachers in an honest and respectful way,” stated Cozad High School English Instructor Woody Blackmore. “She is a young woman who understands and appreciates the world beyond her limited high school sphere.”
