Cecile Helen Conner, 92, of Lexington, Nebraska, died December 20th, 2012, after a prolonged illness, at an assisted living facility in Aurora, Colorado.
Helen was born April 8th, 1920, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Frank and Anne (Van Cleave) Pollat. She grew up on a farm near Cozad and at the early age of eight, moved with her family to homestead a ranch 26 miles northeast of Newcastle, Wyoming.
She graduated from Newcastle High School in 1938, leaving Wyoming to live with an aunt in Omaha, Nebraska. She married A. Darold Conner on September 17th, 1939. They began their life together in Cozad, then moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska and finally settled in Lexington where she spent her life. In 2008, she moved to Stonehearth Estates Assisted Living in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Helen was the mother of three boys and two girls.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Janette Barbarick and Sondra Conner, and one son, David Conner (Virginia), all residing in Colorado, two sisters, Rose Van Cleave and Carol Cullum and one brother, Max Pollat, all of Newcastle, Wyoming. She was the beloved grandmother to three grandsons, Mike (Gretchen) Conner of Parker, Colorado; Brad (Lela) Conner of Wichita, Kansas, and Jesse Elleson of Houston, Texas and five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Christopher, Suzanna, Zachary, and Edie Jazz.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, her husband, Darold and two sons, Phillip and Timothy.
A memorial service will be Friday, January 4th, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Reverend Rex Adams officiating.
Burial will be held prior to the memorial service in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Assembly of God Church or Gideons International.
