Janet A. Knauss, 86, of Cozad, Nebraska, died November 29th, 2012, at the Mother Hull Home in Kearney, Nebraska.?

Janet was born May 1st, 1926, at Genoa, Colorado, to Clifford and Fern (Johnson) Rayburn. After high school graduation, she became a teacher.

On September 21st, 1949, Janet married Elwood “Bub” Knauss at Marysville, Kansas. Their union was blessed with five children, Julia, Brian, Karen, Carol and Jo. ?

Janet was a member of the Dawson Chapter #33 Order of the Eastern Star and a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, crafts, gardening and flowers. She spent many hours helping with the family 4-H projects. She will be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elwood in 1994; brother Duane; and sister in law Jenelda Rayburn. ?

Survivors include her son, Brian (Suzanne) Knauss of Papillion, Nebraska; four daughters, Julia Knauss of Cozad, Karen (Stan) Prochnow of Seward, Nebraska, Carol Knauss of Grand Island, Nebraska and Jo Morris of Pleasanton, Nebraska; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Tymesia, Emilie, Jaimee, Zachary and Alexandra; two great-grandchildren Rylie and Raelyn; a brother, Allan Rayburn of Columbus, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Ruth Rayburn of Brady, Nebraska; along with many other relatives and friends. ?

Services were held Tuesday, December 4th, 2012, at 2:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with Pastor Doug Smith officiating.

Burial was in the Cozad Cemetery.
