Genevieve Lucille Carbaugh, 91, of Elwood, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 14th, 2012, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexington, Nebraska.
She was born October 7th, 1921, at O’Dell, Nebraska, to William and Anna (Cacek) Prebyl.
She attended high school at O’Dell High School and graduated with the Class of 1939. She went on to college at the Nebraska College of Business, in Lincoln, Nebraska. On May 26th, 1945, she married Jesse L. Carbaugh at the St. Paul Methodist Church in Lincoln. They made their home in Lincoln until 1970. There, she worked for National Bank of Commerce for 10 years. They then moved to Elwood, and Jesse worked for First National Bank of Elwood until his retirement in 1985. They remained in Elwood until 2006, with recent residences in Lincoln and Meadowlark Point in Cozad, Nebraska. Jesse passed away on March 31st, 2008. Genevieve then moved to Elwood Care Center, in Elwood.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and UMW, in Elwood . She enjoyed playing the piano, organ and violin.
She is survived her son Gary and wife Renee Carbaugh of Lincoln; daughter Sharon and husband Robbie Oelkers of Elwood; four grandchildren: Andy and wife Suzanne Carbaugh of Sandy, Utah, Kellie and husband Greg Krzycki of Lincoln, Kasey and husband Ron Rushton of Elwood, Cody and wife Sara Callahan of Kaneohe, Hawaii; seven great-grandchildren: Ayden, Maren, Gracie, Riley, Noah, Sophia and Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse and one brother.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 17th, 2012, at the United Methodist Church, in Elwood, with Pastor Mary Fuller, officiating.
Interment was in the Elwood Cemetery, at Elwood.
