Roar of Tigers not enough against Minutemen cagers
Lexington drains 10-of-14 from charity stripe

The third time was not the charm for the Tigers, as Lexington completed a three-game sweep of Hastings by winning a 52-46 contest, in the opening round of the B-5 Boys District Basketball Tournament in Kearney.
The Minutemen got out to a fast start, holding off the sweet stroke of the Tigers to hold a 13-11 lead at the end of the first period.
Lexington continued to push forward by using great ball movement and getting the ball to the open shooter, but it wasn't enough to outscore the sharp shooting from beyond the arc of Hasting's Ben Reimer connecting from deep to close the gap on the scoreboard to just one-point, 26-25 entering the halftime break.
Making key locker room adjustments allowed the Minutemen to outscore Hastings 15-11 during the third quarter of play, to give Lexington a five-point edge, 41-36, entering the fourth stanza.
In the early minutes of the fourth period, Lexington converted successfully on scoring opportunities to increase their lead up to nine-points. The stellar defense by the Minutemen flexed their muscle, by limiting the Tigers roar to only get within six points throughout the final moments of the hoops contest.
Making a big difference in the contest, Lexington shot 45 percent from the floor, sank 10-of-14 free throws in the game, and dominated on the boards ripping down 31 caroms compared to the Tigers dismal 13 rebounds.
Senior RJ Seberger posted a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds, to lead Lexington.
Minutemen guard Andrew Rios contributed seven points.
Lexington frontcourt players Tyler McKeone and Hawken Albus pulled down nine and six rebounds. Albus also dished out five assists.
Hastings was led by Ben Reimer who buried five treys and finished with 19 points.
Lexington advanced to play Monday evening against McCook with the win.
